The Human Rights Agenda

Durbanreview.org focused on the international Human Rights Agenda as well as all aspects of the Durban Review Conference.

The Human Rights Agenda is presented on the home page of this site. It includes the following themes:

  • Racial discrimination
  • Indigenous peoples
  • Slavery
  • Women
  • Children
  • Homophobia
  • Migrants and Refugees
  • Roma and Sinti
  • Islamophobia
  • Antisemitism
  • Disability

These themes were selected by governments at the 2001 World Conference Against Racism in Durban, South Africa.

Each theme covers a broad range of issues, not all of which were given the same prominance in 2001, and not all of which look to be given the same attention at the 2009 conference. Some vital issues that fit within these themes are indeed not mentioned at all.

This site aims to provide information on these important themes, both those that are addressed by the World Conference Against Racism (Durban Review Conference), and those that for political reasons may be quietly ignored.

Human Rights are not a political football. There is no order of preference when it comes to racism. No individual's issue can be ignored. No one should use human rights to promote their own political agendas.

With your help DurbanReview.org will shine a spotlight on all forms of racism, and highlight those issues that are likely to be forgotten. With your help we can bring an end to discrimination a little bit closer.
