Copyright and reproduction permission

The DurbanReview.org project is run by volunteers with the purpose of providing information for the public. As part of this much of the content is released under a creative commons license that allows reproduction provided certain conditions are met. We do also have a number of articles which we have received permission to reproduce, to reproduce these items you need to request permission from the original source (just like we did).

The following serves as a guide, but please contact us if in doubt.

No author or copyright information

A large number of articles on the site have been put together by our volunteers to help explain the conference, human rights issues, and topics where mistakes have been make in reporting in the press.

These articles are all released under a Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 Unported license. This means you can republish these articles, and you can even adapt them, but you must state that the work is from / is adapted from an article at www.durbanreview.org. You must also provide a link directly to the original of the article. Your work must be released under the same or similar license.

Author listed, not previously published

A number of experts have contributed original content to this site. This work may also be reproduced, but in this case you must reproduce them as is (i.e. you can't use them as the basis for a new article with different content). These items are released under a Creative Commons Attribution-No Derivative Works 3.0 Unported license. You must state that the article is originally published at www.durbanreview.org, and you must also provide a link directly to the original of the article.

Material previously published else where

We have been given permission to reprint a number of articles from other sources. Where we have done this we will have provided a link to the original. Please contact the copyright holder (not us) if you wish to reproduce the article.

Quoting, referencing, and linking

You do not need a copyright holders permission to make fair use of content. This means you may quote a reasonably amount from any content on this or any other site and provided you put the quote is quotation marks, and you say where it is from, there is no problem.

While you do not need out permission to use content from this site as a reference, if you do refer to it, please let us know. We may link to you.

Links to this site are welcome (again you don't need permission), but if you link to us let us know. If your site is on topic we may link back or refer to it in our media section.
