Ahmadinejad’s UN speech didn’t help

PLO Ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva Ibrahim Khraishi has told the Jerusalem Post that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s speech attacking Israel “was not helpful at all… It was not balanced”. The Palestinian delegation had taken a decision “not to use Durban [Review] as a platform to attack [the existence of] Israel” and had asked those supporting them to do the same. “We ask all of those who are going to support or to show their support with us, to do so according to our interests and not according to their agendas” he said. He went on to explain, “We are the ones who are losing the blood there, and so if there is anyone who wants to fill his glass from our blood, we will cut off his head; we will not allow it”. Khraishi also note that reports his delegation had walked out with the Europeans during the speech were misleading, the Palestinian delegation had left towards the end of the speech (the Europeans left earlier on), but this was in order to attend a meeting, not in protest.
